2. Overview

This website is a purely static information site. It uses no cookies, no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising, and embeds no third-party content (no external fonts, scripts, maps or videos). There are neither forms nor user accounts.

3. Visiting the website

The website is provided on a server I operate myself in Germany. No external hosting provider is involved. When you visit, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the server:

This data is processed to deliver the site and to ensure the secure operation of the server, for example to fend off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in the stable and secure operation of the website. Insofar as the server stores this data in log files, it is kept only as long as necessary for secure operation and then deleted. It is not combined with other data or analyzed for advertising purposes.

4. Contact by email

If you write me an email, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer your inquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (interest in answering inquiries) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your inquiry concerns a contract. Messages are deleted once they are no longer needed for processing and no statutory retention obligations apply.

Email for this domain is received via Strato GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, acting as a processor.

5. Apps

The following applies to my apps:

GWDesk connects directly to your organization's GroupWise server. Emails, appointments, contacts and credentials are exchanged only between the app and that server and stored locally on your device (mailbox cache, and the password in the system keychain if you choose to save it). I receive none of this.

The Linux version of GWDesk checks its license with my license server license.openemotion.de, which I also operate in Germany. The following is transmitted:

The check takes place at first start, when a device is activated or released, on “Check again”, and at the latest seven days after the previous check. Its purpose is to verify the license, to limit it to the number of devices purchased and, for the trial version, to prevent repeated trial periods on the same device. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the license agreement) or, for the trial version, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (interest in a fair trial period). The data is stored as long as the activation exists; trial activations are deleted after [enter period, e.g. 24 months]. If you release a device under Settings → License, its activation is removed immediately for purchased licenses.

If you purchase a license, I store your name and email address to send you the license key and to manage the license (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The Mac version of GWDesk does not use the license server; it is distributed through Apple's App Store.

VMRewind does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. The app works exclusively locally on your Mac with the virtual machines in the folders you allow. It makes no network connections and contains no analytics, tracking or advertising tools. Settings and folder permissions are stored only locally on your Mac.

6. Disclosure of data

Your data is not disclosed to third parties unless I am legally obliged to do so. No transfer to countries outside the European Union takes place.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

An email to the address above is enough to exercise your rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the authority of your place of residence or the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Art. 77 GDPR).
