FollowMe is a navigation app for groups traveling together in several vehicles. One vehicle leads the convoy, all others follow – without anyone losing touch.
Unlike regular navigation, what counts here is not the shortest way to the destination but the way the lead vehicle actually drives.
Roles
- Leader: drives ahead and sets the route.
- Followers: follow the leader and see the leader's path on their map.
Two ways to drive
Planned route
The trip follows a route set in advance. It is imported as a GPX file or planned in the app from A to B with waypoints. All vehicles get turn-by-turn directions for the same route. If the leader deliberately deviates, for example because of a road closure, the others follow the leader's actual path instead of being guided back to the old route.
Free driving
There is no fixed route. The leader simply drives off, and the track driven appears live for the followers. They see “Follow the leader” and the track on the map.
Features
- All convoy members see each other on the map
- Turn-by-turn directions on screen and as voice guidance
- CarPlay support with map and directions on the vehicle display
- Route planning with waypoints that can still be edited later
- Import of GPX routes, used unchanged as the basis of the trip
- During free driving, the leader sees the route driven so far
How it works
- The leader creates a trip, with a planned route or as free driving.
- The other vehicles join the trip as followers.
- The leader drives off. Their position and path are continuously sent to the followers.
- Each follower sees where to go on the iPhone or via CarPlay.
Requirements
- iPhone with a current iOS and a mobile data connection
- For display in the vehicle, a car with CarPlay (optional)
- The app is in its test phase and is being tried out on real trips
